Macbeth soliloquy poem

Macbeth soliloquy poem

Alarum'd by this fatal dagger,
Witchcraft celebrates thy blade,
An instrument of cold blood,
Not my feeling but of the false creation
To abuse my present horror.
I see before me, dead,
A bloody business from wicked mind,
I have thee not, and yet I thus is my
Stealthy ghost, with ravishing strides,
Toward my whereabout.
A threat of the mind, a bloody creation,
A wolf howl's this watch
Like a fatal Proceeding.

Macbeth photos

Is this a dagger which I see before me

Thou marshall'st me the way that I was going

And on thy blade and dungeon gouts of blood

That summons thee to heaven or to hell

150 words following line 69

My heart is now made of nefarious thoughts, yet, my soul doesn't want to make these blinding visions real. How can someone who has just bestowed a gift upon my name, which I hadn't even been interested in, be given a death sentence? To be executed by me. These melancholy thoughts have escalated, into something horrible and irreversible. Only a few days have passed since I have seen those disgusting sisters, and ever since I have felt actively pernicious ever since. They only told me half the story, either the rest is left to me; or my fate has yet to be condemned. My destiny is something which is no longer in my grasp, or control, and what's to happen next is something I fear, regret. As the idea of that suggestion grows within me I am having extreme morale battles about this treacherous act. Risking my life and limb for the sake of greed, it has no longer been about honour or pride, it's about my narcissistic inner self.

Macbeth film

Costume, Setting and Sound
  • It is set as if in a WW1/WW2 setting, very chaotic.
  • Different to what you would think a slightly modern version.
  • Their costumes, no matter who or what are covered in blood.
  • The sound has a clear stutter, unsure on what may happen next; there is a slight resemblance to to that of a heart beat.
  • Sound is all building up to a crux, it all seems to follow on.
  • Soviet uniforms.
  • Even the kitchen is grime.
  • Dark and grime, isolated place.

Presentation of characters:

Witches:
  • They have a very suspicious and melancholy feel.
  • Their faces are cold, their voices have been echoed. Walking un unison creates an atmosphere of confusion.
  • Murder and betrayal are prominent.
  • Always in the background, lurking on the vulnerable.
Macbeth:
  • Selfish, wants no more about his own prosperity.
  • Confused and startled.
  • Never eliminates the prominent, horrid, 'fantastical' idea of murder.
  • He has begun to hate, the only person to scour at the news of the new prince.
  • Sound is very high pitch; resembling confusion, chaos and confusion.
  • Still questioning whether he should do this un noble deed.
Banquo:
  • Is very noble, and loyal.
  • Questioning anything sounding false.
  • Cautiously intrigued.
  • Doesn't want to know, rejection towards them.
King:
  • Loyal to his noblest warriors.
  • Happy, for now.
Lady Macbeth:
  • Her voice is very suspicious and slightly subdued.
  • Scared.
  • Loyal to husband, yet incredibly greedy.
  • Darkened by greed.

Macbeth and Banquo Horoscope

Taurus- Macbeth

You are a strong and audacious warrior, and in doing so, lavish gift and honours will be brought upon you. Such honours will cause a horridly triumphant downfall, however it shall be concealed and hidden, only to be revealed at the crux of the corruption caused by you. As your title begins to grow, your inner psychological battles begin. Your struggle with paranoia grows too mighty to bare; the gravity of such a horrible attribute draws loved ones into danger. Under this immense pressure one shall die. Your psychological condition begins to deteriorate; the most monstrous atrocities will have been completed, turning you into a crime ridden tyrant.

Then, you will have to except your destiny.

Gemini- Banquo

Your time may already be up, those who you may love and trust will deceive you into falsehood. Your loyalty for both King and country shall be repaid with death; this short ending is caused by the inability to acknowledge the misleading of ones character. It is not through your own fault you come to an end, but the obsessiveness and egotistical ways of your betrayer. Your children for the time will be safe. Your eternal soul will torment those who betrayed and murdered you.

Macbeth pictures

This image brings out power, not through the image exactly; but the colour used. Due to it's dull, morbid colours it will reflect a negative trait to your brain's subconscious influencing your perception.

Due to the arms waving about, as if to go away, it shows that they ignore and loathe happiness; because the horse and knight represent good connotations.

These three witches are all pointing in unison at one direction, because of this it will emphasise the peculiarity of the situation, and characters.

As previously said in the recent picture the witches are pointing in a particular direction, as well as this the visitors are keeping their distance; exaggerating the isolation of the hideous witches.

In previous pictures the witches are perceived as strong characters, but for this they are showing a sign of weakness and vulnerability; however you could interpret this is them collaborating to complete a plan, or pretending to show weakness.

The witches represent their power in this through covering the eyes of the victim, consequently giving victims and others a weakness; vulnerable to psychological abuse.

The image that best brings out the power of Macbeth's opening image, is the one above. This is due to three main points: 1. by covering their eyes, it shows someones vulnerability, 2. The witch in the background is looking behind you as if you the audience are in danger; and finally how the witch on the right is shouting into his ear, epitomising the absurdity of the scene.
